Koonya Sunset

One of the worst meals I've had, and the one star feels generous. The chicken burger was completely black outside and dry inside, and honestly inedible. The chips were pale, soggy and undercooked, as if they'd barely been near a fryer. While we were seated, waiters openly talked badly about us within earshot, laughing and making comments instead of doing their jobs. It was uncomfortable, unprofessional and shocking. There was no apology, accountability or effort to fix anything, just attitude and indifference. If you want to pay good money to be disrespected and served food fit for the bin, go here. Otherwise, eat literally anywhere else.

The bar server was so unhelpful, and the service was terrible. They only told us one of the most popular beers on tap wasn't available after we'd ordered it. Then they charged $14.50 for a 250ml can of Naked Life non alcoholic cocktail, when a four pack costs $12.50 from Coles. What a joke!

We went for lunch and the food was great, especially the awesome burger. Service was lean and multitasked, but efficient enough and did the job. It was pleasant and very quiet inside, and the open fire was a nice touch. This place looks like it thumps in season.

After a day at the beach we picked this restaurant because it was nearby. That was the only positive. The calamari and chips were very average, nothing worth mentioning. The service made the meal unpleasant. We were still eating, with chips left on the plate, when a staff member asked to clear the table. We said we weren't finished, but about ten seconds later another staff member asked the same thing. It felt pushy, like they were rushing us out. When we repeated that we were still eating, we got a quick “sorry” with no sincerity or real acknowledgment. The whole exchange left us uncomfortable and unwelcome, and ruined what should've been a relaxed meal by the beach. Mediocre food and rushed, careless service. I wouldn't recommend the place and won't be back.
