We booked 'Room 10' and were told setup could begin at 10am because the previous guests had until then to clean up. We understood, and thought we’d have until 10am the following day to pack up too. The planning itself went smoothly, the food and alcohol were good, and the woman helping us plan was fab. But after the reception, when I wanted to go back to my room with my new husband after the best day of my life, the staff told us we had to clear everything right then, at midnight. We were completely overtired after being up since 5am, and only found out as everyone was leaving. They said there was a Father's Day lunch booked the next day and they needed Room 10 for overflow reservations. They also said otherwise they’d need more staff in the morning. It’s outrageous to ask us to clean up then after telling us we had until 10am. It wasn’t our job to prepare the room for a lunch that shouldn’t have been overbooked. I would have understood being asked to clear it earlier than 10 the next day, since things happen, but not straight after our wedding. I can’t help wondering if we were treated this way because our budget was low. Separately, we had an alcohol tab, and at 'last call' the bar staff let my cousin order *48 BEERS*. That didn’t seem like responsible service of alcohol.

The room was so spacious it felt like you could almost live in it, with room for everything, plus a TV and couch. The bathroom had a bath, a separate shower, a wash basin and a stool for clothes. There weren’t cooking facilities beyond a kettle and toaster, though they did provide cereal. It was a real wow for us.

The risotto was tasteless, with overcooked rice and chunks of uncooked Camembert. The Persian fritters looked like something my cat threw up this week. The bread was burnt and dry, and they forgot the olive oil and balsamic for the bruschetta. So disappointing, especially after coming here for years. GET A NEW CHEF ALREADY!!!!!! PLEASSSSSSE!!!!

The pub’s food was okay and the portions were decent, though the gluten-free calamari was bland and came with McDonald's fries. The setup is really difficult for anyone with mobility issues. You have to go up four stairs to order food, while drinks are only available downstairs. There’s no ramp between levels unless you go outside, which staff said is quite far. With so many seniors, they should think about this. Anyone using a walker would struggle to place their own order.

The young staff were friendly, and it was quiet enough to talk easily. The place has a typical bistro feel, but the meals were only lukewarm and the prices were a bit higher than at most pub bistros.
