Nightcap at Manhattan Hotel

We were made to feel welcome in the two-bedroom apartment, with the heating already on before we arrived. It was neat and clean, and the beds were lovely and comfortable. There were chilled glasses and water in the fridge, as well as milk and tea and coffee facilities. Mel at reception was lovely when we arrived, and we got drink passes for the bar and 10% off dinner. The apartment had its own separate entrance, though the stairs were a bit difficult for me because of my back issues. We enjoyed our stay at the Nightcap at Manhattan, would recommend it to family and friends, and plan to stay again. Thank you!

The main problem was the bar noise below the rooms. The music and voices were so loud it felt like we were in the bar ourselves. The smoke smell added to that impression. Thankfully, they turned the music off a little after midnight, so we managed to sleep before our early departure. Our room looked modern, clean and spacious at first, but there was an overwhelming cigarette smell as soon as we opened the door. In the bathroom we found an orange juice bottle with cigarette butts in it, and the bin was full of someone else’s rubbish. Some double glazing on the windows and an air freshener might be good investments.

Mel at reception was genuinely pleasant, really helpful with information, and gave exceptional service. The rooms are a good size, the bed was warm and very comfortable, and this is a great cheap hotel. The Back Bar, at the back of the hotel, serves delicious meals at very reasonable prices. The staff there worked hard to get the food out.

I’m fussy about places to stay, and this one was a WOW. Room 5 was clean and neat, including the bathroom, without even a speck of dust. If you like a firm bed, you might have a bit of an issue because this one isn’t that firm. All in all, I highly recommend the place. No joke.
