Nightelier Carrum Downs Sands Hotel

The room was beautiful and incredibly clean, the cleanest I've ever stayed in. The bathroom was spotless and the bed really comfortable. Staff were friendly and accommodating, and there was a coffee machine at reception around the clock. I spent two nights at Sands and would give it 20 out of 10 if I could. I'll definitely return. Thank you!

We had a great stay at The Sands by Nightcap Plus Carrum Downs from 5-7 Sept. It was modern, quiet, clean and comfortable, just right for a relaxing weekend. Our room, 205, faced the shopping centre. Block-out curtains and a comfortable bed made for excellent sleep, and the huge shower had great pressure. The bathroom was spacious, and the room was well maintained. The on-site gym and laundry were useful, with washing for $2 and drying for $1, and there was a strong security presence. The bistro across the car park was convenient for dinner. The food was decent overall, though the chicken wings were burnt and the rest was fine. A few snags: the AC didn't work, so the room got stuffy. We tried opening the balcony door for air, but there was no screen and bugs came in. Our laundry was accidentally taken from the shared room, but reception quickly sorted it out by checking the cameras. The gym closes at 9pm, despite the sign saying 10pm. The $22 breakfast buffet wasn't worth it, and we both felt unwell afterward. I'd stay again, but skip the buffet and keep an eye on the laundry. It's a safe, comfortable place.

The deposit was charged to my non-Australian credit card and then refunded, which left me with extra costs from the exchange rate. Other hotels usually place a pre-authorisation hold instead. Apart from that, this was a pleasant, good-value stay for visiting Mornington Peninsula attractions. The hotel was modern, clean and smelled nice, and the room was spacious and comfortable. It's opposite a mall with several places to eat within walking distance, and the complimentary coffee behind reception was surprisingly good.

I've stayed in hundreds of rooms, and these are impressive enough to make me take the time to write a review. The attached venue has good food and facilities, and the whole place punches above its weight. Well worth considering for a stay in the area, and I'd highly recommend it.
