Novotel Melbourne Preston

The hotel was clean and well maintained, and the staff were very friendly. It was comfortable, and getting around on public transport from here was easy. I booked a kitchenette room, but the store top didn't work and there were no press available to cook with. I wish I'd known that before checking in.

Staff were friendly and approachable, and the location was very good, near the train station and an easy walk from The Keys, a kid friendly bowling alley, bar, and restaurant. Parking was confusing at first, but easy to manage once we'd worked it out. We stayed over Christmas and hadn't realised before booking that the café would be closed for our whole stay. The restaurant also had reduced hours and was closed on some days. Cleanliness was disappointing. Toiletries weren't replenished, our children found a half-eaten pie under the bed, and there was a glass with a questionable liquid, possibly urine, in the fridge. In another room, my in-laws found an empty box of condoms. These things make me concerned that rooms weren't being thoroughly checked between guests. One lift was often out of order, leaving just one to serve the building. The waits were frequent, and because our room was on the 7th floor, the stairs weren't a practical option. The location and staff were positives, but the cleanliness and reduced facilities had a significant impact on our stay.

I was unsure about staying out of the city since we usually choose Melbourne CBD, but the superior room really surprised me. It was incredibly clean, quiet, and nicely presented. From arrival, the service felt professional and everything went smoothly. I'll definitely come back and have already recommended it to others. Great comfort, cleanliness, quiet surroundings, professional service, and good value. Thanks for a lovely stay!

The hotel was clean, well located, and convenient for getting around Melbourne. Staff stayed polite and helpful throughout, and they explained that they would have moved us if another room had been available. The hotel was fully booked, which I understand. We'd specifically booked a king bed studio room, but were given two single beds pushed together. The zip and hook weren't secure, so the beds kept separating. I raised it with staff three times and was told it would be fixed, but it wasn't sorted during our stay. My partner ended up with back pain. Apart from that bed issue, the stay was positive, and the staff were welcoming.
