I checked out about two hours after arriving and didn’t really stay, but I think other travellers should know why. It was summer, and the apartment had just one air conditioner in the large living area. The small bedroom had none, and the toilet had no ventilation fan. They gave us two fans to push the cool air around, but it didn’t work. The wooden floors and carpet were dirty, and I didn’t even want to check the sofa or bed after seeing that. There was dust on every other surface, far more than you’d expect if the place had been cleaned before check-in. The manager was nice and apologetic, but the owner of the brand should oversee this. It’s 2025, and with CLLIX being quite well known, I expected better. I’ve stayed in other apartments, Meriton is my favourite, and they have air conditioning in every room. I assume those units also heat the rooms. With only one here, are we meant to sweat in summer and freeze in winter? Even my own four-room apartment has a four-unit air conditioning system. They need to do better.

The welcome pack, tea and coffee were a nice touch, and we felt comfortable at Paragon Apartments. The apartment was very clean and the air conditioning kept it cool. Customer service was excellent. Thanks, Paragon. We’d happily come back.

We chose Paragon by Clixx for a week in Melbourne, mainly for its central location. Queen Victoria Market is about ten minutes away, most tourist spots are walkable, and it’s in the free tram zone. The building is modern and striking, with a sauna, two hot tubs overlooking the streets and skyscrapers, a gym, and a lap pool. There are attractive shared spaces too, including a theatre, dining room, and library. The apartment was spacious and sunny, with a knockout skyscraper view, stylish furniture, and a thoughtful bathroom with body lotion and conditioner. Some furniture was stained or worn. The appliances were premium brands: Bosch oven, LG washer/dryer, dishwasher, SMEG kettle, Samsung microwave, DeLonghi toaster, and a large Samsung fridge with water dispenser. The concierge was responsive on WA when we asked for help or refills. Housekeeping was the biggest letdown. Dust covered the apartment and the floor, and our feet were dirty when we came in. The sieve had dried, rotten food on it, and pieces of dried food were stuck to the cutlery. We nearly retched and had to clean all the kitchen equipment in the same drawers. The dishwasher didn’t work, and they wouldn’t move us to another unit or repair it during our week. It seemed to have had only a surface clean. Under the furniture and appliances were dust, dried food, and stains. Despite the premium oven, there were no baking trays or equipment, making it useless. There were no coasters or placemats, and the table had water marks and other stains. On our last evening, before flying to Hobart for the next part of our trip, the wall socket stopped working, so we couldn’t start the washer. We couldn’t pull it out because the water hose was too short. It was Christmas and the concierge had left at 3 PM. We tried resetting the circuit board several times, with no luck. Oddly, the socket worked when the concierge replied the next morning, but we had only an hour to wash and had to pack wet laundry for our early flight. We put up with some small inconveniences, but the kitchen hygiene was bad. With the dishwasher and then the washer/dryer not working, I wondered why we’d chosen this over a hotel at a premium price. #eatstylishtravelstylish

The apartment was a real disappointment, even though the market end of Queen st is a good location. We’ve regularly stayed with the clixx brand around Australia over the last five years, and this was its worst showing. On floor 44, the walls were marked and signage was sparse, and things went downhill from there. Once inside, the apartment was filthy. There were multicoloured marks on every surface and all over the walls, well beyond normal wear. It clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly. The master bed was two mattresses at different heights pushed together, worn out, and had us constantly rolling toward the middle. The kitchen was basic but usable for cooking, though there were no scissors and the hotplates were disgusting. The washer and dryer worked, and a sample of washing powder was a bonus. Nothing had instructions, and we never found the bathroom fan switch. The bathroom marks need urgent attention. The tile and shower layout made the floor very slippery, so I’d be cautious with young children or anyone unsteady on their feet. If it hadn’t been a busy holiday weekend, we would have left. We’ve stayed in lots of hotels, and this place made me feel gross just looking around the room.

I paid a AUD 200 security deposit for my five-night stay and checked out on November 10, 2025. As of January 17, 2026, it still hadn’t been returned. I’ve contacted the property several times, but the replies have been vague and noncommittal, with no clear timeline or resolution. It’s been extremely frustrating and unprofessional. Please be careful staying here. The way they handle deposits feels unreliable and potentially misleading.
