Our room itself was lovely, spacious, and well presented, but the landing outside the balcony had rubbish all over it, including lighters, broken bottles, and cigarette butts. There was also a used syringe within about three metres of our balcony. I took a photo and can provide it. I reported it to reception; they apologised and arranged for it to be removed promptly. We checked in at 2:30pm and were told our room had a maintenance issue and would be ready in 5-10 minutes. After waiting in the foyer for an hour and a half, we went back to the desk and learned we'd been assigned a different room, which had been ready since 2:45pm. No one had told us. There was only one person at check-in, and we saw other guests wait at least 20 minutes in line. We had also arranged and paid for onsite parking, but there were no spaces, as parking is very limited, and we were sent elsewhere at extra cost. Reception staff were accommodating at times and dismissive in their communication at others. At breakfast, we had to ask three separate times for buffet items to be topped up. The waitress seemed to be managing the buffet, bar, and breakfast check-ins all at once, which looked like too much for one person. The room was a positive, but better communication, staffing, and upkeep of shared areas would improve the stay. I'd appreciate the chance to talk about this by phone.

The tram stop is right outside in the free tram zone, making it easy to get trams all over Melbourne. My room was quite large, and the facilities were clean and nice. I didn't have time to use the pool, which is in another building. Breakfast was really nice, and there's a bar area for drinks. There were plenty of staff when I arrived late, despite what I'd read in some reviews. The staff were friendly and helpful. I'd definitely stay again.

Parking is very limited, so arrive early. The location is perfect for events at marvel, and the rooms are spacious and well presented. Most outdoor noise is kept out, and it wasn't nearly as bad as some reviews made out. Still, this definitely isn't the advertised five stars.

The beds were good, but the room was average and the bathrooms were highly average. This definitely isn't five stars. Check-in was average too. Our child was sick on a blanket, so we asked for a spare, but got nothing. We spent the whole night freezing. Expect a decent walk to find a restaurant, since the one there is closed and only serves breakfast.
