Quincy Hotel Melbourne

The location was great, convenient and easy to get to. But after six nights over seven days, I probably wouldn't return and would look at other hotel options. The room and bathroom seemed very dusty, and housekeeping didn't clean well day to day. Used utensils were left untouched for several days, as was a wrapper on the toilet sink. On checkout day I left my bags at the front desk while I went out in the morning. When I came back, the receptionist couldn't find them. They eventually turned up, but I had to help search, and nobody offered a sincere apology. The service was questionable.

Check-in was a little slow because it was busy, but the staff were lovely and happy to look after our bags. The rooms and decor were cool, with lots of space and comfort, and the showers were unbelievable. Minibar prices were no higher than regular prices. We had a fantastic night and are keen to come back to try the pool and rooftop bar.

The rooftop bar was lovely, and the pool was great, with wonderful views of Southbank. The stay was pleasant in some ways, but the room was below the cleanliness standard I expected. There were toenail clippings on the floor from the previous guest, and the walls and doors were dirty. Those problems weren't fixed during my week there. Room service from Salted Egg was fine until I ordered the $36 chicken curry. The chicken skin was full of feathers, not just a few, and I lost my appetite and stopped eating. I raised it at checkout the next day. The receptionist said no manager was available to process a refund and told me to email. I did, but it took repeated emails, explaining why this wasn't acceptable and following up after no response, before they refunded the meal. The location was okay, though not ideal for walking around at night. Between the overpriced, low-quality meal, difficulty getting help and poor cleanliness, I wouldn't stay again.

Everything was within easy walking distance, and the hotel was very comfortable and modern, with a large room and an excellent shower. I loved the rooftop bar and its happy hour. The breakfast place is handy when you want a quick start, though there are comfier, hipper cafés around the hotel. Being right in the CBD means you hear a little street noise, but it wasn't annoying. A really great city hotel.
