The Interlude

The design is beautiful, especially the lighting and furniture, and I really love the place. But the staff and service don't live up to the hotel's image, they felt awkward and casual. The dark look also means the cleaning doesn't seem spotless. I hope more people get to enjoy it before it gets rundown. Please step it up.

The rooms were incredible, especially considering they cut through those cell walls, and the pool was amazing. Everyone was warm, the staff were fabulous, and the wine bar was great too. The location works well for what you need in the northern suburbs. For a city stay I'd probably choose the CBD, but if you're after somewhere north and five-star, this makes a perfect destination and staycation. I did the H division tour before and can highly recommend it. The interlude experience was just perfect. I'll definitely be back and will recommend it to friends and family.

I was upgraded to an interlude room, and it became one of my best hotel stays ever. They joined three cells by cutting through prison walls as wide as my shoulders. The room was cosy, thoughtfully designed and an amazing experience. We had dinner at the bar downstairs. The Thursday happy hour offering was excellent, the scallop was delicious, and the oysters were great. The staff were fantastic and really on top of everything. I couldn't recommend this experience more.

The rooms are converted B division prison cells, and ours, B106, was made from four cells. They're the right size for a room, but you don't come somewhere like this to stay inside all day. You might as well go to a real prison 😄 What an amazing, historic hotel. You won't find another like it. The bar downstairs makes some fantastic cocktails. My wife and I each had two Blood and Bacchus, which was incredible. Breakfast at North & Common restaurant was delicious. Highly recommend if you want somewhere different to stay.
