Urban Rest Toorak

Throughout my week at Toorak Urban Rest, after arriving on 8th February, I kept contacting support about maintenance problems that were never properly fixed. The kitchen light didn’t work at all, leaving the area dark and unsafe to use. I sent photos, but repairs took several days because service was limited outside business hours. When someone finally came, they agreed the light was void and the fitting needed an electrician. It stayed that way until I checked out. I was told to open the blinds, which wasn’t suitable, especially in the evening. I’d told the attendant I kept them shut after the first day because the property overlooks public housing, where people were often visible behaving in ways I found concerning or erratic. The oven and dryer also didn’t work. The dryer filter hadn’t been cleaned before I arrived and its water container was full, details missing from the troubleshooting guide. Even after I cleaned it, the dryer stopped after four minutes. I shared a video with the operations team, and the dryer issue was only resolved two days before checkout. The oven remained inoperative. So the kitchen and laundry, key facilities and the main reason I chose Urban Rest, were unusable for most of my stay. Despite repeated reports and clear evidence, Urban Rest declined a full or partial refund. I consider the property’s condition and amenities misrepresented, and have escalated the matter to NSW Fair Trading for review. Based on this stay, I would NOT recommend Urban Stays to travellers looking for reliable serviced accommodation.
