Veriu Collingwood

This was our fourth visit, and the service and rooms were amazing again. The rooftop and gym are great, and the gym, spa and pool are lovely spaces. On our short getaway, the room was clean, tidy, functional and well equipped, with good service. We had a courtyard room, which was lovely, but it was very dusty and the windows were caked with dirt, as if they hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. We’d have used the courtyard more if it had been cleaned.

The hot tub stayed cold for both days of our visit. It wasn’t lukewarm, it was cold. On the final day it was dramatically warmer, but by then it was too late for us to enjoy it. The manager gave excuses and acted as if the temperature had been right all along. I expect they’ll say nobody else complained, even though a desk employee told me someone had, and all five of the other adults I shared the tub with did too. Our room was comfortable and had plenty of amenities, but it felt cramped. The location was decent, and the lobby wasn’t particularly inviting.

We were between homes and spent two weeks here. Smith St is an easy walk away, with grocery stores and good restaurants, though the kitchenette didn’t come with basics like salt, pepper or oil. It did have everything for simple meals: a sink, oven, dishwasher, induction stove top and microwave. There was also a small washer and dryer with liquid soap, but the dryer mostly steamed our clothes instead of drying them. Our ground-floor room opened onto a small patio that wasn’t fully enclosed, so it wouldn’t be suitable for letting a dog out alone. It could get a little loud at night, so light sleepers may prefer another floor. The pool and hot tub upstairs looked really nice and had a fabulous view, though we didn’t get to use them much.

A clean room with a kitchen and washing machine, plus a pool, and all without a huge bill. Public transport is within walking distance. There was an event next door during my stay, but the walls did their job and I wasn’t bothered by the noise. No complaints about my visit. I’d highly recommend a Veriu Suit room!
