The location made getting around Melbourne easy. Trams run frequently along Fitzroy Street and the waterfront, so the CBD, Flinders Street, Queen Victoria Market and Federation Square are all straightforward to reach. There are also great cafes close by, from specialty coffee to breakfast and lunch spots. What surprised me most, though, were the beds. The private pods have curtains, reading lights, USB-A and USB-C ports, and adjustable LED strips. With the white panelling and exposed brick, they felt more like a boutique hotel than a dorm. I’ve stayed in hostels on three continents, and these were the best beds I’ve found at this price. The staff were warm and remembered my name, and it was easy to get talking with other travellers over breakfast. I booked Bayside House at the last minute after seeing the photos, expecting an ordinary hostel. It turned out to be a really good place to stay. I’d come back next trip.

The rooms were comfortable, clean, and well organized, and the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. I also found the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming, so meeting other people was easy. The location worked really well for time near the beach and exploring the area. I had a great stay and would happily return.

Getting around was easy, with transport only about five minutes away. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and having a curtain on each bed gave me some privacy in the shared dorm. Staff were friendly and ready to help whenever I needed something. A fantastic stay.

There’s lovely nature nearby, and I’d recommend this hostel to backpackers or anyone hoping to make good memories in Melbourne. I stayed for a month and had no complaints. I had a lot of fun with people from many different countries.

Rates are competitive, and management was very accommodating. The nearby tram stop makes it easy to get to the CBD at any time, and this part of St. Kilda is nice to walk around.
