Warburton Holiday Park

The kids loved the playground, and they could ride their bikes close to our site in a safe area. We had a lovely stay in a double powered site tucked into a lush corner of the park, and I’d certainly come back. I was pleasantly surprised by how clean the amenities were when we arrived: glass shower doors, steady hot water and good pressure. The only downside was the road noise, which often drowned out the river. Our site was next to the road.

The camp kitchen was spotless and fully stocked with stoves, ovens, barbecues and fridges, and the bathrooms were clean and tidy. The park is right by the river, with a nice walking trail, or you can walk in the river itself. It’s an easy walk to the main town and a short drive to lots of walks.

The park is lovely, but since the new owners took over, cleaning the facilities has slipped. They used to clean twice a day and now do it once, which is noticeable when the park is full. The mop bucket in the toilet for cleaning showers after use is disgustingly dirty, and the mops need replacing. I raised the cleaning issue with the women at reception and got a very frosty response. While in the office getting ice, I overheard one of them on the phone complaining about another camper asking about the toilets. She said, “they will be cleaned when they get cleaned!” Very rude. Hopefully a new park manager comes in and makes things better.

The two-bedroom riverside cabin was a treat, though a bit small for our three people. The room was spotless, the heating worked well, and the shower was hot. The beds were warm and comfortable.
