The Apartment on Sapphire

The owners were lovely, but the place needs some work. The interiors are really dated, which I could live with, but there was mould in the bathrooms, stains on the sheets, and I woke up with roaches on my bed. The pool was lovely, though it could use an update too.

The price was very budget friendly, and the staff were cheerful and pleasant. My room was spacious and clean, with parking right by the door and a little kitchenette with a microwave and bar fridge. I was glad to reheat a quiche I’d bought at the local bakery. The bed was comfortably firm with no dips. I had a nice stay and will be back.

Good spot, with a five minute walk to restaurants and the main street. The room was clean and comfortable, and the person at reception was really friendly and helpful. I recommend it.

The bed was comfortable, the blackout blinds worked well, and it was a quick walk into town. But this motel needs serious maintenance and a deep clean. I stayed four nights in January 2026, and the room was serviced only once out of the three days it should have been. Each time I raised it, the manager helped sort it out, though he also said they had 50 rooms to clean each day. That 50 includes the poorly reviewed motel next door with the same owners. He did vacuum and bring new towels, but having to chase up the basic service they offer is awkward as a guest. The AC vents were full of mould, and condensation dripped onto the TV. I opened the unit and found the filters clogged with dust. Cleaning them took me under a minute, then I let them dry for an hour. I didn’t even invoice them for my work! Management, you can clean them quickly by popping the AC unit open and vacuuming the filters. The walls are quite thin, and from ground floor rooms you can hear noise from upstairs or TVs in neighbouring rooms.
