Discovery Parks Margaret River

The playground is great for kids, and it’s a lovely venue in a good location with good facilities. The management was terrible, though. I paid for a campsite two days ahead and checked in during the day, then went out and came back to find someone else had been booked into my site. They blamed me, saying they would have explained the change if I’d taken a site map. There was no curfew management either, so kids were swearing and riding around all night. You might as well sleep by a shop entrance. The toilet room drain runs between the most kid-friendly sites, leaving a lot of bad smells near the toilet block and playground.

The property itself is lovely, with a great rural setting, but the noise made our stay hard with two young kids. A large group was partying, shouting and swearing until the early hours, so we struggled to sleep. We chose Taunton Farm because it seemed quiet and family-friendly, and the lack of quiet hours or noise management made it feel far from that. Hopefully management can sort this out, because the place has the potential to be really great.

The kids were thrilled with the crafts, sausage sizzle and treasure hunt on our latest visit, and they always love feeding the farm animals and bouncing on the pillow. We’ve stayed here a couple of times now, and it’s become a favourite. The caravan sites are a good size, and the shower block was great and consistently clean.

Waking up to sunrise over misty fields with cattle grazing was beautiful. It’s a peaceful park, with roomy drive-through sites and power, water and grey water connections. There’s a dump point by the toilet block, plus a kitchen, BBQ, bouncy pillow, playground and communal fire pit.
