7th Street Motel

I stayed here overnight between Melbourne and Swan Hill during the floods. My flight was delayed, but the owners kindly waited for me and checked me in. The room was clean and comfortable, about what I expected for the price, and everything worked. The service was very good, and it’s right near the centre of town. I’d stay again.

Everything was ready when I arrived, and I paid a reasonable price for my two-night stay. The rooms are only about a two-minute walk from Mildura Railway Station, and most things are close enough to reach on foot. It was my first visit to Mildura. I couldn’t find a taxi, there was no Uber, and the buses were hardly anywhere to be seen. Since it’s a small city, I was able to walk around and enjoy the views along the way. 😃😃

The location is amazing, with everything within walking distance, and the afternoon sun keeps the pool warm. But the owners and staff weren’t helpful, and every request seemed like too much trouble. When I asked to use the washing line, I felt as if I’d overstayed my welcome. On our last stay, I asked for a face washer and was told I could go buy one for a dollar. The handbook said we could use the washing machine, but asking to do so again made us feel like we were asking the world. We also asked them to book a taxi and got the same feeling. I’ve never met a couple so lacking in customer service.

The location is hard to beat, right beside Riverfront park and Langtree Ave with all its bars and eateries. We got a friendly welcome, and the room was spotless with everything we needed, even milk in a jug and a bottle opener to borrow. The pool was lovely, and pool towels were provided. Highly recommend.
