The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable enough. We’d come back, just not in cold weather. There were no electric blankets or spare blankets, so we had to keep the heater running all night to stay warm. Apart from that, it’s a pretty good motel.

The quiet was a real plus. Apart from the odd bird, I heard nothing and slept very well. For the price, Sandpipers was great value, especially since it was $60 a night less than the 3 star place I usually book in Naracoorte. It’s clearly a budget hotel and looks a bit daggy outside, and it’s dated rather than immaculate, but inside it’s clean, tidy, spacious, and has no unpleasant smells. There’s a lounge, a table and somewhere to eat, plus a TV that works. The carpets, bathroom and toilet were clean, and the bed and linen were very comfortable. One thing to watch when booking: the cheapest rooms have double beds, which may be too short if you’re near or over 6ft. I chose the queen room, so that wasn’t an issue.

The bed was very comfortable, and the pillows, linen and towels seemed fairly new. It’s easy to find and makes a good base for visiting nearby towns. The room and pool both need updating, though, and the jug needed cleaning because there was a lot of scale on its element. The bathroom could use a thorough scrub too. The receptionist was nice, but not especially friendly and didn’t know much about local places to eat. We’d still stay again for the comfort and location. The Somerset Hotel and the Indian restaurant are the best places to eat.

We had a lovely stay. The location is beautiful, the rooms were kept clean and tidy, and the service was good. The staff were so polite and made recommendations. We enjoyed the meals, along with the tea, coffee, water and cold drinks.

We booked a queen superior room, which had plenty of space and all the facilities we expected. There was a large TV, kettle, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, good sized cups, microwave, lots of bench space and a two seater couch. The pool is in the middle of the complex, though we didn’t use it. The motel was easy to find on the main road, and the staff at check in were very polite.
