Suzy and Justin made us feel at home straight away. We stopped here on the way from Cradle Mountain to Barnbougle and were glad we did. Dinner was delicious, and sharing a table was a lovely chance to meet other guests and some locals. Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and breakfast was included. Great value for money. Highly recommend this place in Mole Creek, Tasmania.

The Wandering Trout was a great base for exploring the region, and the setting was so quiet. We stayed two nights and had a comfortable, roomy room. It felt refreshed while still keeping the building's old-time charm. Suzy and Justin were wonderful hosts, and we loved the meal at their table. The food was superb, and we had great conversations with some lovely new people.

The dinner at Wandering Trout was beautifully presented and delicious. I can be a bit of a food critic and am not easily pleased, but this was the best meal I've had in a long time. The clean, simple accommodation has an old-world feel that I love, and the stay with the shared-table dinner was extremely good value. I highly recommend it as a place to stay and dine when visiting Tasmania. It's a hidden gem, and I'll definitely be back.

The room was cute and homey, and Suzy and Justin were friendly hosts. Dinner was delicious and creative, with a solid breakfast too. I've never liked duck, but Justin made it in a way I couldn't get enough of!

This is only about the restaurant, not the hotel. We booked the chef's table after reading lots of positive Google reviews, but found the meal overpriced. The $110 per person four-course menu had two fish dishes, a gummy rice ball (onigiri) in stale seaweed, far too much wakame seaweed, chewy undercooked eggplant with an overly sweet miso sauce, and sorbets that were poorly presented. One had a bitter daikon (radish) flavor. Dinner started 45 minutes late, despite two stern emails telling us to arrive 15 minutes early because service would begin promptly at 7 pm whether everyone was there or not. Our table mates were delightful, and the wait staff were attentive. Those were the only redeeming features. A few days earlier, we had an $85 per person four-course chef's menu at the Coq in Bicheno. It was interesting, well executed, tasty, beautifully presented, and very reasonably priced. Don't bother eating at the Wandering Trout.
