Twin Pines Motel

The rooms are a bit rough around the edges, but they’re clean and comfortable. There was plenty of hot water with good pressure, and the towels were fresh, clean, and fluffy. Staff were courteous and helpful too. You don’t have to spend a fortune to be comfortable here, and it’s close to beaches and good food.

What a joke. My daughter stayed for three nights, and we wouldn't go back. The booking specifically said the ground floor room was not to be moved, but at check-in she was put upstairs with no explanation or apology. The cups and other things weren't replaced, there was nowhere to wash dishes, and the bed covers had just been pulled over a bunched-up mattress protector.

The place was reasonably tidy, with a double bed and two single beds in one room, plus a separate bathroom. It did the job for my adult kids for one night so they could avoid driving home in the dark, but I wouldn't choose it for my own holiday. The toilet light brought cockroaches running for cover, and the owners need to deal with them. There was no kitchen sink for washing dishes, either. A vacuum cleaner sat outside the room on the path for the whole stay, which said a lot. We're heading back to Mooloolaba next year and the kids may visit, but they want to stay somewhere else. If all you need is a basic bed and roof, it might be enough.

The price and handy spot made it worthwhile. The beach and aquarium are both just a short walk away. The facilities are a little dated, but they were clean, and the staff were friendly.
