We had a really fun time here, especially the game nights and pool competitions. The people were easygoing, and I met some great travelling buddies I plan to catch up with on future trips. Thanks so much, Nathan and crew. The pool and balcony were lovely places to relax, and the common areas were always neat, with someone around keeping them clean. Rooms are basic, but for the cheapest accommodation in the region, that felt fair. The vibe’s super chill.

I’ve been living here for a year and a half, and this is the most relaxed backpackers I’ve had the pleasure of staying at. The Exchange Hotel is a great place to meet people, have a chat, or play board games. There are fire pits, pool tables, and a gym, too. The pool’s kept up with chlorine, the kitchen is cleaned daily, and fridges are cleared of rotten food once a week. Toilets and showers are always cleaned, there’s daily maintenance, and a washing machine in the building costs just $3 to run, cheaper than any other laundrymat in town. Since it’s an 18+ hotel, we’re adults and mostly responsible for cleaning up after ourselves in the kitchen. It is a 200 year old pub, so it won’t look like a 5 star resport like the ones in port. It’s a historic building, and some paint is coming off, but it’s come a LONG way in the short time it’s been open and they’re still repainting the spots that need it. It’s good and one of the cheapest places in town. If you want to meet new people and have a convo, come stay. Everyone’s welcome!!!

I’ve been staying here for the past three months. It’s a nice place in the centre of mossman, and the owners and manager are lovely and always ready to help. There aren’t many people living here, so you can have your own space whenever you like. The hostel has a clean pool, pool table, small gym and TV room, which you don’t find everywhere. It’s good for backpackers. If you want a 5 star hotel, go to Port Douglas. If you’re after affordable accommodation near the main attractions, book at the exchange. Recommended.

It felt like an abandoned building, very old and horrible. Everything was dirty, it smelled musty, and there were lots of cockroaches. The bathroom wasn’t cleaned once during the whole week. The owner was unfriendly and very arrogant. Drunk people were shouting day and night. It felt like a dangerous place.

Cheap rooms, a free pool table, and a nice beer garden with a pool. It’s a great bit of nostalgia, and the best accommodation I’ve stayed at in Far North Qld.
