Silky Oaks Lodge, Beckons

We loved our billabong suite, which was spacious and beautiful, overlooking the tropical rain forest with the mesmerizing sound of the river below. Complimentary e-bikes made it easy to explore Mossman Gorge, and we stopped at Beechwood's cafe for lunch on the way back. After busy days in the rainforest, nightly cocktails perched above the river were a lovely way to unwind before our four course dinner. The chef made a special menu for my husband’s dietary restrictions. From the warm welcome on arrival to the exceptionally friendly staff, everyone went above and beyond to make the stay memorable. Such an amazing experience!

I treated myself to two spa services at Silky Oaks Lodge, Soul to Sole and Pure Radiance, and the experience was 10+ stars. Mu was my therapist, and I’m especially grateful for the safe space they created, which let me relax so deeply. The whole team were kind, professional and worked hard to make it feel nurturing. The property is truly stunning, and Andy’s hospitality left us with a strong, lasting positive impression. His kindness is the main reason we’re comfortable giving five stars at this stage, and we intend to update the review after another interaction or a full stay. We drove out today because we’re looking for a special place for our 11th wedding anniversary. We wanted to get a feel for the atmosphere beyond what a website can show. At the gate, we called reception and were told all the information we needed was on the website, that it was private property, and that no one could show us around. We understand that drop-in visits can be difficult or impossible to accommodate, especially in a beautiful, secluded place where privacy and security need to be managed. Still, the message came across as abrupt and a little dismissive, and that shaped our first impression. Just as we were leaving, Andy, the maintenance manager, was driving out and noticed us. He kindly offered us a look around. His warmth, professionalism and genuine pride in the property completely changed the experience. He welcomed us, answered our questions, and gave us a much better idea of what staying there might be like. We’re very grateful for the time he took, and he’s a real asset to Silky Oaks Lodge. Our one suggestion is that reception handle visitors like us with a little more warmth and flexibility. Even if non-guest visits usually aren’t possible, a friendly explanation of the policy, perhaps an invitation to have coffee or a drink at the bar if feasible, or an offer to arrange a short tour at a set time, would better match the lodge’s high-end positioning.

We stayed for four unforgettable nights at Silky Oaks Lodge, tucked into the heart of the Daintree Rainforest, and left feeling restored, grateful, and already eager to return. For those four days, we could be immersed in nature without giving up comfort. It felt like more than a beautiful place to stay, almost a feeling of its own. Our treehouse-style suite sat high in the canopy. Each morning brought birdsong, lush greenery all around, and the peaceful sound of the Mossman River below. The amenities were extraordinary, especially the serene Healing Waters Spa. Details throughout the lodge felt intentional and luxurious, while still respecting the natural surroundings. At the Treehouse Restaurant, fresh seasonal food was served in an open-air setting where the rainforest became part of every meal.
