Brighton Hotel

The hotel room and accommodation were excellent, and the band was very good. Still, the bar experience on Saturday, 7th March, around 8:20pm spoiled what had otherwise been a great stay. The band was tucked into a corner surrounded by televisions, which isn't a great arrangement for dancing or properly enjoying the music. After we got back, we ordered drinks and sat down to listen. When I went to the bar for another round, three staff were behind it, but none served or even acknowledged me. One young woman looked at me, then turned away while washing glasses. Another staff member came over, looked at me, and kept talking with her. A young man collecting glasses walked straight past. I waited about five minutes with no other customers in line, then gave up and returned to our table. We left about ten minutes later. I rarely write negative reviews and usually post positive ones, but being ignored like that is unacceptable in a hotel. The bar staff need better customer service training and basic attentiveness.

The pub staff were friendly when I went in, and although I ate at a friend's house rather than at the pub, the meals I saw looked sensational. Check-in at the pub was easy, and Liam made me feel welcome. I stayed at Brighton Hotel in Room 3 on 1 January 2026, after a previous visit in October 2023. The room had been upgraded since then, and I heard no pub noise. It's slightly detached from the pub, which makes it a good place to stay. There were the basics, coffee, tea and milk, plus three types of cereal, extra milk, a mini chocolate bar and a microwave. The SmartTV worked easily with my Chrome device, the bathroom was clean and effective, and the air con worked well. The room had signs about daily service, so the cleaners seem to do their best to keep things fresh, clean and updated. Accommodations can have the odd teething problem, but I know they'll stay on top of things. Thanks to Liam and the crew. I hope to come back.

Leslie and Steve were the best part of our stay. They made us feel so welcome and went above and beyond. The rooms were quiet, the beds comfortable, and the basic rooms were well equipped, though there was no hairdryer. Please offer a better choice of coffee sachets! We found the accommodation while looking for a place after seeing Jimmy Carr at the Exhibition Centre, and it worked out well. It's close to the venue. A tip for getting there: drive to Sandgate Station, then take the train two stops for 50c each way. Or take the courtesy bus to the station and the 690 bus back, also 50c, with a five-minute trip to the hotel. Saves the $20+ taxi or Uber. We'll definitely be back.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the standard room was tidy inside with clean sheets and bedding. The bed felt a little too springy for me, but it was okay. There were toiletries in the bathroom, though tiny ants had gathered around the shower and wash basin. It wasn't a big problem, and a quick rinse cleared them, but my daughter freaked out. It was a good place to stay. We didn't eat there, so I can't comment on the food.
