Red Earth Boutique Hotel

The setting was great, and the table was nicely arranged. Service was good too, but the food was a letdown. We paid $147 for dishes that either weren't cooked properly or didn't taste fresh, and the menu didn't offer much choice. My partner, brother, son and I left without eating, though we still paid. The drinks were flat as well. We'd just moved here and wanted to try somewhere fancy and nice, so it was disappointing and not up to par. That's why I gave it 2 stars.

Right in the centre of town, but the room was quiet with no street noise. Check-in was the fastest I've experienced, and staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, with tea, coffee, milk and biscuits. A great place to stay while passing through.

The Pub / Bar and Grill still does great meals, which I've really enjoyed. But after several stays over the years, it's sad to see the rooms fall off. My first visits were excellent, with clean rooms in great condition. By January 2025 the standards had taken a drastic turn: broken shower heads, damaged room drapes, a broken luggage carrier, and busted lamp shades. At over $300 a night, we're not coming back until the room maintenance improves. Such a shame, it used to be a beautiful hotel to stay at.

Everything else was good, but the skylight directly above the bed woke me early and left me with disrupted sleep. There wasn't a real window, just a poster stuck to the wall with curtains on either side to give that impression. Finding reception took me 20minutes after I called for directions and got very poor advice from staff. The receptionist was vague at best and didn't have much information. It took me nearly 2 mins to get to my room.
