The Woolpack Hotel

The Satay Chicken from the Chinese menu was absolutely delicious. I stopped in for dinner and drinks, and the bar and restaurant staff were friendly and very helpful. They also serve their own Woolpack Hotel Pale Ale in cans. I really enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone who likes Pale Ales.

Right in the heart of Mudgee and close to all the fun, this is a great venue if you don't mind a bit of late-night noise. The rooms are clean, if somewhat dated, which is to be expected. Get involved in the community with evening drinks, meat raffles and other punter fun. Great cafes are a few doors down, and wineries and breweries are nearby if that's your thing.

The location, staff, food and pub were all great, so I'd recommend the place. The main problem is the bathroom setup. Both the men's and ladies' bathrooms have one shower and two toilets, and if someone locks the main door while showering, nobody else can use the toilets. That's a real issue in the mornings. A separate shower area would be a simple fix, and the large area with the kitchen and both bathrooms could easily fit at least two showers with a better design.

The Woolpack ticks all my boxes: a good bed and shower, a clean quiet room, and friendly, helpful staff. It's also the cheapest bed in town. I can't recommend it highly enough.
