Nutcrackers Lodge

The animals are gorgeous, and the hosts Shane & Sarah generously supplied enough food for us to keep feeding them. The kids and I loved every minute of our stay. Everything was very clean when we arrived, and the place was fully self contained. Fantastic place to stay!

Our family had booked this lodge for three nights last month. Three days before we were due to arrive, my father-in-law died unexpectedly. I contacted the property straight away to ask about cancelling, either to rebook another time or get a refund. They assured us that rebooking in a couple of months was possible. Since then, I’ve tried to get in touch to arrange that, but they haven’t responded. Given what happened, I hoped they’d be sympathetic and let us rebook or refund us. They’ve refused both and then gone silent, which I can’t understand. I know there’s a business side to it, but aren’t we human first in circumstances like this? It’s been a very disheartening experience.

Feeding the animals was the best part, with cows, goats, chickens, emus and sheep. It felt like having a wildlife park in the backyard! We can’t fault the lodge: the rooms were spacious, the kitchen was easy to use, and there was table tennis along with other activities. We had an amazing stay and made great memories. I’d highly recommend it for couples or families, and hope to visit again soon.

It’s peaceful and relaxing, far enough out of town to unwind but still close to beaches and amenities. We absolutely loved our stay. The house and property were great, and feeding the animals was a real joy. The owners, Sarah and Shane, are a really nice, down-to-earth couple. I’d definitely stay again and highly recommend the place.
