Narooma Motel

The room was spacious and nice, and the kitchen facilities were good for the price. The stay was comfortable and cheap as long as you don't need anything from Bill. The place often wasn't staffed during the advertised office hours, and Bill was difficult and unresponsive. We planned to cook around 7pm, within the stated 5-9pm kitchen hours, but found it locked. After we called Bill, it took him hours to come open it. We got in just before 9, then he made us leave at 10, saying it was “only fair.” So ridiculous.

It may be a budget place, but there wasn't much else going for it. With the windows open, traffic noise was very loud. The beds were dirty: the cover was dusty, there was hair and blood on the sheet, and the blankets were stained. The little milk portions for tea and coffee had gunk around the seal and looked years old. Service was pretty atrocious too. We hadn't been given check-in instructions, then waited a very long time at reception for someone to show up. Although checkout was at 10am, staff started knocking at 8:30. After checkout, we had to wait outside a little before leaving and saw them skim through the cleaning. Our elderly mother asked if she could use the bathroom once more and was rudely refused.

It's on Princes Highway, so traffic can make it noisy.

The owner's behaviour was disgusting and belittling. I wished him “Merry Christmas,” and his rude response and actions left us all stunned. The room was small and old, even for the price. If we'd been able to book somewhere else earlier, we wouldn't have stayed, no matter how cheap it was.
