I loved the quiet walk from the property before dinner, and sitting outside my room felt like a proper peaceful retreat. The gardens were gorgeous and full of flowers, with the river close by and a gentle jasmine scent in the air. It’s under 30 minutes from Hobart, yet feels far removed from it. Laurelle made me feel welcome straight away. She walked me to my room, told me a little about the property’s history, and was gracious and incredibly helpful throughout. The room was spacious, spotless, and thoughtfully set up, with a stunning river view. For a visit to southern Tasmania, this is a lovely place for comfort, nature, and considerate hospitality. Thank you, Laurelle. Highly recommended.

It’s along the Derwent River and an easy walk from New Norfolk village, where there are art and antique shops, places to eat, and other services. The famed Agrarian Kitchen is close by too. We enjoyed a meal there, as well as pizza from Gigi's. The accommodation was beautiful, with first-class service and attention to detail. We felt welcome and cosy, and slept very well.

New Norfolk is a handy base for exploring the countryside, visiting MONA or nearby vineyards, and Hobart is only a 30-minute drive away. The town centre and Agrarian Kitchen are also just a short walk from the hotel. Laurelle was welcoming and helpful, both while we were there and beforehand, when she shared information to help us plan. The restored old Georgian building sits right on the Derwent river and has plenty of character. It was comfortable and well equipped, and our room was great. Even when the hotel was full during part of our visit, it stayed so quiet you wouldn’t have known. We had a wonderful visit and would happily return.

After long days on our motorbikes, the comfortable bed was just what we needed. The place was spotlessly clean and had all the self-catering items we needed. We spent the evenings sitting under the wisteria outside our room, overlooking the Derwent river. We had three wonderful nights at the Woodbridge. Laurelle has really honoured the beautiful building in turning it into accommodation, and she was a great host. We hope she can keep offering her lovely “home” for many years. We’d definitely stay again if we’re in the area.

The gardens are breathtaking as soon as you come through the gate, and the building has gorgeous river views. Laurelle was so caring when I arrived and made sure I was comfortable and settled in. She also emailed some fun documents about the home’s history and restoration. I took a quiet moment to sit by the river in the evening, then read about the house. It was really interesting, especially if you’re into Tasmanian history. The Woodbridge is an absolute delight, and I’ll certainly come back for more time here. 🤎🤎
