That game of Scrabble beside the fire in the shared lounge was one of our favourite parts. It's a charming, relaxed space, and Mick made us feel welcome throughout our stay at Explorers Lodge in New Norfolk. The breakfast each morning was delicious, and the rooms were clean, stylish, beautifully appointed and very comfortable. A perfect place to unwind after days of exploring. Highly recommend this peaceful, homely B&B in the Derwent Valley. The care really shows.

The home cooked breakfast was delicious, especially with the home made preserves and jams. We had everything we could possibly need in a very comfortable room, and felt welcome and well looked after. This was the only place we stayed at in Tasmania that provided a shower cap, it's the little things! Thanks Michael, you may have converted us to B&B style accommodation.

The kids had a great time running around the yard and visiting the chickens, and we enjoyed the local playgrounds and beautiful cliff walk. We were in town for a local wedding and booked the apartment for me, my husband and our two kids, plus a room in the main house for my mum and her partner. The grandparents liked being nearby while still having a quiet breakfast, since apartment guests are asked to stay out of the main house. Everything was immaculate, clean and beautifully detailed. The rooms felt homely, clearly fitted with love, and exactly what we had hoped for.

The Blackwood room had fantastic mountain views, and the whole building felt spotless and inviting. Michael is a fantastic host, nothing is too much trouble for him. Breakfast was sublime, both in its choice and presentation. We'll definitely stay again on our next visit to beautiful Tasmania.

A nip of complementary port by the fire, great conversations with owners Michael and Roberto, and a full English home cooked breakfast were some of the highlights of our night at The Explorers Lodge in New Norfolk. The property was beautifully presented and had everything we could have hoped for, plus more. Amazing barely covers it. One of our favourite places we've stayed, and we're looking forward to coming back.
