Michael made us feel welcome straight away, even though we arrived later than planned. He showed us around and shared a little of the property’s history, then offered suggestions for things to see around Hobart. The house is about 100 years old, but feels homely and has modern facilities. It’s in a quiet suburban area with full security, and each room has its own heater, which was useful in the cold climate. There’s a computer with internet for researching your trip. My son loved the outdoor play area, though the jacuzzi was his favourite. The modern kitchen had every appliance and accessory we could ask for, and fresh muffins, bread, milk and coffee pods were waiting for us. Booking this family home was one of our best decisions for our Tasmania holiday. We couldn’t have asked for better accommodation. Bakers retreat is a definite must if you’re looking for somewhere in Hobart.

We came to Tasmania for a family break with our three children under five, and this house kept them entertained with its layout and kid-friendly features. It was extremely clean and comfortable. Communication was clear and easy from booking through departure, and Michael gave us a quick tour when we arrived. He made us feel welcome and let us know we could call him any time if needed. The little supplies already in the house made things easier: tea, coffee, milk, fresh bread, cookies, butter and spreads. There was more than enough linen and towels, plus soap, shampoo and conditioner. We’ll certainly be back.

We had a few rainy days in Hobart but still had plenty to do indoors. The huge TV had lots of streaming services, and there was a computer too. The kitchen was great, with smeg appliances, and the supplied bread, fruit loaf, milk, butter and spreads were appreciated. My husband is from Melbourne and loved the coffee machine. There are heaters in every room, robes in the wardrobes and plenty of space for clothes. We enjoyed the spa and BBQ area, and the spa bath in the bathroom was great. The only downside was that the shower leaked a little with the door shut, but there were lots of towels to soak it up, and they dried quickly on the heated rails. Parking was in a locked carport off the street.

Michael got in touch before we arrived, and checking in was simple. He also kept in touch about our departure, which made everything easy. The house was delightful, peaceful and serene, and had all we needed. Everything was clean and tidy. The kids enjoyed the games and the outdoor cubby house. We had a wonderful weekend at Baker's Retreat and will definitely stay again next time we’re in Hobart. Thanks for a lovely stay, Michael.

The place matched the photos and was clean, cosy and practical. Everything was there if you wanted to cook, and the kitchen was nice and big. We used the hot tub on our first night, and the aches and pains from our flights disappeared. I’d highly recommend it for family or friends visiting Tassy, as it’s near everything. Jean Paul's patisserie is also just a walk away and a must try.
