Mercure Newcastle

The kitchen staff were lovely to deal with, and everyone we met was kind and welcoming. We stayed over our wedding weekend, and the customer service was fantastic from the moment we arrived. Our room was really nice too. The only odd thing was that there wasn't a shelf in the shower for toiletries. Otherwise, it was great. 10/10, we'd stay again.

We had dinner at the hotel's restaurant one evening. The food was good and nicely presented, though it cost a bit more than nearby places. Breakfast was also available, but the buffet had limited variety and felt basic for the price, even though it was enough to get the day started. The central location made it easy to walk to the main shopping centre, including Coles, as well as the marina and wharf for a stroll or something to eat. The hotel had the facilities we expected, including the restaurant. We stayed a couple of nights as a family and were comfortable overall. We'd consider coming back to Newcastle and staying here again.

The location was really handy for getting around central Newcastle, and I thought the price was reasonable, so I would still recommend staying here. Our first room hadn't been cleaned, which made for a poor start. The staff quickly moved us to another one and were great about it, but that room had a couple of problems too: the hand soap was empty and the shower head was loose, so we couldn't adjust it.

The pool was a lovely place to cool off on a hot day, and restaurants, nightlife and the waterfront were all easy to reach on foot. We also found the Drive & Stay package convenient, with parking and breakfast prepaid for each morning. My husband and I came for a much-needed weekend away, our first since our son was born. The team made us feel so looked after, welcoming us with sweets, a complimentary bottle of bubbles, chocolates, water and a lovely card with a heartfelt message from the staff. Everyone was friendly and approachable throughout the stay. Thanks to the team at Mercure Newcastle for making it memorable. We'd definitely return.
