Two cockroaches in the apartment was pretty concerning. The bond issue afterward was even worse. They charged $150 for the keys, then made a fake invoice claiming it had been refunded through EFTPOS, which couldn’t be true because I never tapped my card. They called asking for my bank details so they could transfer it, and I said I was driving and would send them when I got back to Sydney. They never got those details, and they still just STOLE my $150!

I was given a late checkout until 11 am, but the rest of the stay was a mess. I’d booked here and was instead sent to different accommodation. After a four-hour drive, I expected the PIN from the property’s message, but there wasn’t one. The provider then said I had to collect a key elsewhere. At 2.30 pm I picked it up and was told the room wasn’t ready. It wasn’t cleaned until 4.30. After checking out, I realised I’d left my expensive hairbrush behind. They said nobody had handed it in. Hope the cleaner enjoys my $170 Mason Pearson hairbrush and has lovely shiny hair now.

The apartment looked comfortable and was in a nice location, so at first I was impressed. Then I noticed loads of bed bugs across the bed head and covers while unpacking in the bedroom. Disgusting, especially for what the night cost. I contacted the host and still haven’t had a response.

The apartment had great amenities and was nice, but it wasn’t very clean. The cleaner also let herself in before checkout without knocking, and no one apologized. Getting inside was a whole ordeal: we didn’t know how to enter, so the business sent us to another address for the key. When we returned, someone was already staying there. Another call revealed the worker should have given us instructions and a different address. We finally got the directions by email and found the right place. Such a waste of time.

The location is beautiful, but apt 92A was a disappointment. The listing photos were misleading: the main image shows apartment 92, overlooking the harbourside park, while 92A faces the rear lane. Inside, it wasn’t clean. There was dust on the rafters, shelves and window ledges, plus dust and hair on the floor, and no broom to sweep it ourselves. There appeared to be urine residue around the toilet pedestal and cockroach droppings in the kitchen drawers. The bedroom window wouldn’t close, so cold air and street noise came in all night. The downstairs smoke alarm had been disabled, with its top element sitting in a kitchen drawer. I wouldn’t stay in apt 92A.
