The location is good and the room was clean enough, but pretty basic. The beds and pillows could use replacing, and the towels were quite grey and worn. There was also some noise from the bar downstairs.

At $185 for the night, I called to report that my room smelled damp and mouldy and the window wouldn't open. They had no other rooms available. When I asked about a partial refund, the answer was no.

The only real upside was the location, close to bars and restaurants. The place looked nothing like it did online. The bedding was filthy and stank (see photo), the blinds were torn, and the towels were dirty before we even used them. There was a smell of piss, no bedside lamps, and Saturday night was too noisy to sleep. Overpriced for what you get. Don't book it.

It's a fantastic location, and the check-in instructions were good. The room was generally fine, but it had no bedside lamp. The bigger problem was major mould in the bathroom and shower, which clearly hadn't just appeared. Such a shame, it really takes away from what could have been a great stay in a fantastic spot.

Studio Buemont in Newcastle felt like a ripoff. We paid for a studio with a kitchenette, but there was no table or chairs. There were no bedside lamps, the lift wasn't working, and there was no parking, so we had to leave the car on the street with all our luggage inside. I have a bad back and struggle with stairs; my husband and I are in our late 70s, so carrying things up the steep stairs was difficult. On our travels, we've paid half this price for places that were 100% better quality. I'd recommend giving this place a miss.
