Newman Hotel

I only came in for a shower after work and a meal, then slept in my truck every night. My employer had booked me for 6 days, but the rooms were filthy and smelled like a dirty public toilet block. Water dripped from the air conditioner onto the back of the TV, and when I opened it, the filter looked like it had never been cleaned. There was mould everywhere. The smell from behind the kitchen on the way to the mess was awful too. The lack of cleanliness blew my mind. This place should be shut down. It’s a disgrace, and I’ll never come back.

Dinner and breakfast were very good, with plenty to choose from. The rooms felt a little dated compared with places I’ve stayed recently, and the timber flooring outside the room needs maintenance because it’s a bit dangerous.

The restaurants were faultless, with food and service both worth 5 stars. But my room hadn’t been cleaned. I saw the cleaner next door and asked whether I should leave my room unlocked. He told me to lock it, which was fine, but when I came back, my room was unlocked and still hadn’t been cleaned.

The Palms restaurant out the back serves pretty good camp style meals in a buffet arrangement. Barry is cold in the front bar, and there’s a great range available.
