We’ve stayed in hostels while travelling for over a year, and this was a pretty unusual experience for us. The property is nicely designed, but we thought the price was too high for what it offered, and the overall atmosphere didn’t feel very welcoming. The vibe seemed a bit artificial and “Instagram-style” instead of relaxed and genuine. If that curated look is your thing, you might enjoy it more than we did. The beds weren’t very comfortable, especially the upper bunks. Their awkward ladders were difficult to use and affected our comfort. The interaction that most affected our impression happened at breakfast. While we were still eating, the manager came over and asked us to wash our dishes right away. We always clean up once we’ve finished, so the request felt unnecessary and uncomfortable. We first wondered if the kitchen was busy, but no one else was using it. We also felt watched and singled out. From our perspective, it gave us the impression that the manager might have checked the situation on cameras, which felt intrusive. It’s disappointing that one interaction had such a big effect on our impression and rating, especially since we’d followed the rules and respected the place.

Daisy’s ping pong refereeing was a highlight, fair calls and such good energy. Little moments like that made the stay memorable. Bounce Hostel has a really friendly feel, it’s clean, and there’s always something fun happening. Had an amazing time and would absolutely come back.

The location is good, the rooms are clean, and the staff are very kind. But I was cold at night because there was no duvet, and the other guests kept the air conditioning at 18 °C. I don’t remember being told there wouldn’t be one. The women’s bathroom also needed more attention. There was quite a bit of mold, a few cockroaches, and dirt around the showers, which seemed like it could be dealt with using some bleach. The shower water stayed cold the whole time too.

Victoria was a gem. She arranged our stay over the phone for me and my partner, and was a wonderful help. The facility is well maintained, the staff are accommodating, and there’s a great kitchen. Public transport is easy to get to as well.

We had a brilliant New Year’s stay, and the pool was a real highlight. The rooms were just right and everything was clean. Getting into town was easy, with Uber or the shuttle readily available. Sophie at reception was so lovely and always went out of her way to make sure we had what we needed. There were four of us, and we’re definitely coming back this time next year.
