The resident water dragons were a real highlight, and we had such a good time. The pool was just right for my five-year-old, with space to enjoy it without the crowds we’ve found at other campgrounds. Since she’s neurodivergent, that calm setting was exactly what she needed. Check-in was very organised, and the staff were great. We accidentally left our phone charger behind, and they kindly posted it back to us. We’re really grateful. The stay itself was quiet and peaceful, just what we wanted in the lead-up to Xmas. You’ll need to drive to Macksville or Nambucca heads rather than walk, though it’s an easy base for getting to the best beaches and day trips. Thanks for a lovely stay.

The roomy bathroom with its twin shower seems like a great setup for families bathing a little one. We were only there for one night on our way home, but made good use of the lovely, clean pool and the pool table. Our camping spot was in a large, quiet area, and the park was well maintained and conveniently located. The modern camp kitchen was well equipped, and the facilities overall were great.

The staff were so kind when I lost a piece of jewelry. They helped me track it down and even mailed it back to Sydney, which I’m incredibly grateful for. We were travelling with my family from Sydney to Brisbane and had a beautiful stay, enjoying the amenities and using the outdoor grill. I’d happily stay here again.

The older cabin was comfortable and clean, with linen that was sparkling white. The grounds were lovely, and the pool and its surrounds were spotless and beautifully kept. I stayed two nights at Nambucca River Park and thought it was a TOPS place. Kahla, Kylie and manager Rachael were all so helpful and polite. I can’t fault the staff. Highly recommend the park, and I’ll go again.

The main problem was the comings and goings at all hours. Vans are meant to arrive after 12 noon, but at 4.30 in the morning we were woken by someone reversing and driving forward over the gravel beside us while backing into a site. We’d never experienced that before. There were other late arrivals and early departures too, and it seemed people knew they could come and go as they pleased and avoid paying. We emailed the park to suggest a boom gate like most caravan parks have, but got no reply. The work ethics at Nambucca River Tourist Park don’t make me want to stay again, and I’d suggest thinking carefully before booking unless you want to avoid paying. There are good things about the park: the caravan site cost is reasonable, and it’s well placed near Nambucca Heads’ lovely beaches and inlet, with Macksville close by for groceries and pubs. Families have a pool with fountains and a baby play area. There are also a couple of great camping kitchens with BBQs, enclosed cooking areas and plenty of seating, plus a basketball court, pool table and mini golf. It had a lot going for it, which made the disappointment all the greater. We wondered if automatic check-in was being used to save money, while permanent residents seemed to bring the park the most financial benefit.
