We only had one night at Secrets on the Lake in Montville and immediately wished we could stay longer. The Bower Treehouse, the second one George and Aldy built, is full of beautiful craftsmanship. Everything inside is handcrafted wood, giving it a warm, distinctive feel that’s both luxurious and close to nature. The peaceful grounds were a highlight, from the breathtaking lake and lovely gardens to all the thoughtfully designed corners. Our room had an amazing spa and fireplace, and plenty of firewood was right outside for a cosy evening. We also loved the balcony swing, which was incredibly comfortable, along with the outdoor BBQ and filtered water. George, one of the owners, welcomed us on arrival and was incredibly kind and helpful. Hearing he’s run the property for over 40 years made an impression, and you can see his passion in the details. Everything seemed to have been considered. We’d absolutely come back and highly recommend Secrets on the Lake for a unique, memorable getaway.

It’s always a special privilege to visit Secrets on the Lake. The property is beautiful and unusual, the accommodation is amazing, the meals are wonderful, and George, Aldy and their staff are so welcoming. I’ve been here at different times over the past several years, for a night’s stay or a meal, and yesterday I even dropped in without notice on a Monday when the restaurant was closed. George made us feel welcome and offered us a tour of the grounds. Great fun, as always.

Secrets on the Lake is our favourite place to stay. We came on our own to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary and wanted somewhere quiet and magical. It delivered. From the moment you arrive, the stillness of this beautiful setting makes you feel calm and relaxed. Thank you so much, George, Aldy and your incredible team. 💕💕

We had a lovely lunch and got to tour the accommodation. The rain didn’t stop us enjoying a walk along the elevated bridges under the rainforest, and complimentary umbrellas were provided. The rooms looked lovely, especially the distinctive wood carvings and the spa bath by the window, looking out over the picturesque lake. We’ll certainly come back!

We went for breakfast, then ended up booking a penthouse tree house for Mum and me. I’d stayed here before, and this visit reminded me why I love this peaceful, beautiful oasis in nature. The food, staff, room service, rooms, everything at secrets on the lake feels magical. George was professional, honest and hardworking, with amazing customer service that made us feel at home. Thank you to him, his lovely wife and granddaughter for giving us such a wonderful time. We’ll definitely be back very soon. Highly recommended, you must visit this breathtaking place.
