North Ryde Accommodation

For a solo business trip, the room was spacious, clean, and perfectly okay. I stayed in November 2025. The inside of the house is well looked after, although the surrounding area isn't maintained very well. Better lighting and a proper sign at the entrance, along with daily cleaning, could really improve the property.

A false fire alarm went off during my stay, and there was nobody around to deal with it. The next day, staff kept knocking on my door to ask what had happened. By then, it felt too late to do anything.

The shared kitchen and bathroom were in great shape and really clean, just like our room, which was spotless in every corner and had no odd smells. We also found the place cozy and quiet, which mattered a lot to us. Before we arrived, the owner sent clear, detailed instructions, so getting into the room was easy. We were very happy we chose North Ryde Guestbouse.

The beds were clean, which was a relief, but the rest of the house felt dirty and smelled damp and mouldy. It's between two active construction sites, and wrapping paper covered the windows to block the outside view. The shower was in poor shape, with old tiles painted over and now chipping, and the exhaust fan had no cover. After 9pm, showering wasn't allowed because the noise was so loud it rattled the whole house. There were strict notices all over the place: no common areas at night, call the police in an emergency, $70 to use the communal kitchen's gas stove, and $300 if you lock your key in your room. It felt more like a house run by rigid rules than a hotel. There isn't a reception area either, just a sign on the front door saying “reception”. The price was cheap, but I expected the property to be described more honestly. I'm unsure how it meets legal standards. Anyone thinking of booking should know about these issues.
