Castle Crest Motel

The owner called at 10:15 to say her husband was coming to remove us, even though we told her we were getting into a taxi. She spoke over us, accused us of being aggressive to her staff, and hung up without letting us respond. The taxi driver heard the call on speaker and was amazed she could run a business that way. He called it “Faulty Towers.” Earlier, the cleaner had started banging on our door at 8:30, then banged even harder at 9:58. When we left at 10:10, my wife said knocking at 8:30 wasn’t acceptable. The cleaner said she was cleaning the room opposite, and got very defensive when my wife said that was a bad system. After the owner’s call, it was easy to see where the rudeness came from. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were family. Stay if you like, as long as you didn’t arrive very late and don’t mind being woken early.

The rooms are immaculate, modern, and clean, and this is the best motel in Qld for cleanliness, friendliness, and location. From Tanya at check-in to the staff who clean the rooms, you can’t beat the 5-star service.

Tanya was unreal as a host and manager, so helpful and accommodating. She made our stay enjoyable.

The room was nice when I stayed on May 31, but I realised a few hours after leaving that I’d forgotten my Louis Vuitton belt there. I called the motel and was told they hadn’t found it. I rang two or three more times to check whether anyone else had come across it, but still got no call back to say it had turned up. The owner or manager said she knew what Louis Vuitton was and had been the first person in the room after we left, stripping it down. The belt had only been off while I was in that room, so someone on the staff must have taken it. The service was good, but they’re lying about not finding it.
