After a long day hiking, we ate here while staying on the island last week. The service was very hands-off, with no contact beyond having our meals brought over. We waited more than 30 minutes, and people who ordered after us were served first. Our table had no cutlery, so we had to take some from the next table. The food wasn't great either. The salmon was overcooked, the salad was wilting and the tomato mushy. The mashed potatoes were undercooked, with big firm chunks, and seemed microwaved. The chips had been fried twice and seemed to have sat around before being reheated. The chimichurri looked old, dark, and dry. In my view it was overpriced for the quality and service. With nothing else nearby, I'd only recommend it if you're desperate.

A handy choice after a long day, just a 20-minute drive from Vivonne Bay. It's relaxed and kid-friendly, and the staff are friendly too. They have generous servings of pub staples like schnitzels and fresh seafood, plus a kids' menu. Would definitely recommend this great little spot in the centre of the island.

We didn't judge the place by its cover, and luckily the meal was a surprise. The burgers were excellent, much better to me than the ones from the Grill’d franchise. And the nasi goreng, seriously, why was it so tasty? I wondered if they had an actual Indonesian cook back there. Hard to believe we found a meal this good outside Adelaide, on this island of all places.

The servings are huge, so if there are just two of you, one dish to share should be enough. It is a little expensive, though there's only one hotel/pub with food around. A good place for dining in or takeaway. It's child-friendly, but since it's a pub, kids need an adult with them and should be supervised at all times.

We stopped in on a whim for pub lunch and were surprised by the food's size, quality, and flavour. We tried schnitzel, a Wagyu burger, chicken laksa, and homemade pumpkin soup. Absolutely worth a stop!
