The nearby supermarket and decent pub meals at the Royal Oak Hotel made the stay convenient and relaxing. Penola is a great place to visit, and our room, #13 at Cameron Suites, was large and comfortable. Still, a fair description would be “dated and overrated”.

The rooms were lovely, large, and had nice bathrooms, and the woman who runs the place was so friendly. Internet wasn't available during my stay, which was a big inconvenience. And those parakeets were insanely loud, waking me at 5am every morning. I know that's not the hotel's fault, but it did ruin my sleep. I'd still highly recommend it and would book again if I'm back in the area.

We stayed two nights in a king room, which was nice and big. There's a cute spot to sit out the back, and another out the front on the grass. With Foodland next door, it's super convenient. Thanks again, we'll definitely be back.

Penola itself was a pleasure to wander around, with pleasant streets and very friendly people. The rooms were huge, and the location made it easy to walk to shops and restaurants, a handy base for exploring. We had thoughtful supplies like bottled water, bread, cereal, tea, and coffee, and the service was great. A relaxing place to stay for wine tours. Highly recommend it.
