Baileys Motel

I checked in smoothly around 6pm on 6 May and paid $15 for overnight parking. At checkout on 7 May at 10am, a different staff member, an Indian uncle, wouldn’t let me keep my car there until after lunch. He said more customers were checking in, even though the carpark had only about 3 cars and check in timing is 3pm. The way he turned me down was rude and dismissive. I had to use a costly CBD public carpark instead, at $5 per hour. I wouldn’t recommend this motel unless you want an Indian uncle to spoil your holiday mood.

We spent one night here with our young family and enjoyed it. The rooms were comfortable and furnished nicely, and everything was clean, though the bathroom is dated. It’s a great spot, with a huge playground across the road and restaurants, IGA and Optus Stadium within walking distance. Just be warned, parking costs $15, and there’s no pool despite what the Google listing says.

The service staff are really nice, and there’s a free CAT bus into the CBD with a stop just a minute’s walk from the motel. For a short Perth trip, an event or a cheap place to stay, it works well. The room is pretty much what you pay for, though: there were flies in the toilet and rust on the shower head. I’d suggest finding somewhere else for a longer stay.

The location is good and the beds are reasonable, but the service was very poor. For three days in a row I told them there was no shower gel, and it still hadn’t been replaced when I left. Small thing, but still.
