The bed was on wheels and kept moving when we sat down. The sheets were greyish instead of white, and all we got was one blanket, though the pillows were nice and new. The doors were filthy, the blinds were broken, and there weren’t proper curtains. The air conditioner was loud and barely cooled the room, even set to 18 degrees. I had to clean its filter myself. We paid $175 a night, booked ahead and paid weeks earlier through booking.com, but none of the photos matched our room. I wouldn’t pay $99 a night for it. On arrival they asked for a $200 bond, which was okay, but the woman at the counter got an attitude when I wouldn’t let her photocopy my credit card and offered to pay by EFTPOS instead. After payment she gave me a photocopied parking permit for the street and didn’t mention that cars parked there would be towed at my expense because of the fireworks of sky show. The stairwell was filthy, and for some reason there were two bike tyres outside our room. Junkies and ferals seemed to be permanent residents. We didn’t even make it through the first night of our two-night booking. My partner and I were bitten by mites and silverfish in the bedding, and went to another hotel without bed bugs. Who knows when the floors were last mopped or the toilet cleaned. The toilet was right beside a window facing the balcony, which led to the stairwell and also served as the bathroom. Stay anywhere else. It felt like a former block of flats trying to become a hotel, and it was an epic fail.

The beds were clean and comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. Free parking right by the door was a bonus. It seemed full, but was fairly quiet. The kitchen had what we needed, though there was no milk when we arrived, so no relaxing hot drink after a long drive. There’s no shop or eatery on site. It’s budget accommodation, with clean but dated rooms and no views. Only Venetian blinds covered the windows, so lights from the neighbouring building came through at night. The small fridge was plenty for a couple staying a day or two, but there was no tourist information in the room. Langley Park is just across the road. The shower is over a small bath and isn’t very accessible for disabled guests, with no grab rails. The separate basin taps could easily burn a child.

The building is old, but our executive room was clean and comfortable. The kitchenette was a nice extra, and the central location made things convenient. I’d stay here again.

Our room had everything we needed for a few nights and was clean. It’s a handy spot if you need to get to the Perth family court, just a walk to the end of the street. They have rooms with three single beds too, which could make a fun big sleepover when travelling with friends.

We checked out two days early because the place wasn’t worth staying in. The road between the buildings stank of people smoking outside, and the smell got drawn into the rooms through the air conditioning. Staff seemed helpful when we could find them, but when there was a real problem they tried to deflect it. I’ll pay the extra $15 a night for Ibis Styles up the road next time. The room was dirty, smelled bad, and had stains on the wall. There was black dirt on the bed sheets under the covers. The shower barely worked and swung from hot to freezing every minute. We’d been told there was secure parking, but there was effectively none unless you arrived a week early, took two spaces when someone left, and never moved your car. Several cars were doing exactly that. The after-hours number went unanswered, including when we couldn’t get back into the complex because the gate card reader was broken and our card stopped working on the vehicle gate.
