Doubletree by Hilton Perth Northbridge

The staff were polite and friendly, but for a supposed 4-star hotel, this fell well short. The room facilities were dated, and the pillows and bedding smelled musty and moldy, making sleep difficult. The shower pressure was weak too. On our second day, we slept in from exhaustion. I told the front desk before heading out that the room still needed cleaning, but when we got back that evening it hadn't been serviced, and not even the towels had been replaced. Check-out was extremely slow. The front desk was backed up with people checking in, and getting our luggage took far too long. The property needs serious upgrades and better service standards, so it's hard to recommend.

Hannah at Reception made the stay special from the start, greeting me warmly, checking me in efficiently, and bringing a warm cookie. Everyone I dealt with was superb, and there was tasty free iced tea too. My room was lovely, with a dream of a bed and pillows. When I was about to nap, a family with a toddler and baby disrupted the quiet. I texted Hannah to ask for a quieter room, and within 10 minutes she'd arranged one. She brought the new key up, walked me to the new room and floor, and checked that it was quiet. That's service above and beyond. The bar is lovely, and happy hour runs from 4 to 5pm. My favorite was the happy hour cocktail, a delicious prosecco, limoncello, yuzu, basil, and fennel spritz for $17. They prepare the infusions the day before, and the care shows. The bar staff were a delight, friendly and efficient. I went out to Fringe Festival events, then ordered room service when I got back. It arrived in under 30 minutes, delivered by another cheerful, efficient staff member. Breakfast arrived in under 15 minutes, brought by someone just as cheerful. Hannah was at reception again at checkout and handled everything cheerfully and professionally. She's a huge asset to the front of house. Great staff, cocktails, and a lovely room made it a five-star stay. I didn't check out the pool or spa, so I'll leave those for another visit. I'll book my Northbridge staycations here from now on. When a hotel has service this lovely and professional, you stick with it. Many thanks to Hannah and everyone who made it such a delight.

I enjoyed the night, and Perth city was lovely to explore on foot, with lots of good shops nearby. The bar service on the ground level was great too. The room was divine and perfect for a couple. Checking in alone was simple even though the booking was under my partner's name. I was worried it might be an issue, but after I showed my ID and a photo of my partner's ID, they added me to the booking. The front desk team were all lovely. I wish I'd caught the name of the gentleman who helped me, but I remember he was from the UK. He made a really warm first impression.

Lorena at the front desk deserves special thanks. She was kind, helpful, knowledgeable, and eager to go the extra mile to make guests' time in Perth better. I hope people like her are recognized and appreciated at work. The teams at the kitchen, bar, housekeeping, and especially front desk were all nice and helpful. A few team members could use a little more training, though in general they had good skills. In my experience, housekeeping and the breakfast area seemed understaffed, leaving customers waiting longer.
