Lakeside Bed & Breakfast

We were very uncomfortable in this house from the first day, and I'm sorry I didn't look for another option before booking. We only had to stay three nights, but every dollar felt wasted. I felt like a second-class guest, as the host seemed more focused on entertaining friends and family than paying guests. The house was generally unclean. The living area, bathroom and toilet floors were dirty, and the toilet towel wasn't changed even though several guests had used it. The pool was green and not clean. Our reserved parking was taken by the host's friends and family at times, and we weren't always told; there wasn't even an apology. There was no breakfast being served. The host showed us a drawer with cereal and a small fridge with milk and two already expired yoghurts. Of four kinds of fruit in the bowl, only two were edible. The banana was too brown and the nectarine had gone bad.

The house's federation style was a real hit with us. The people were lovely and respected our privacy. In our room, the bed was super soft, the shower was awesome, and there was a TV and coffee. We had no problem sharing the very clean shower and toilet. There was only one other couple staying, so we never had to wait.

Jan was lovely and accommodating, and I enjoyed chatting with her. The bed was so comfortable that I slept like a baby. I stayed just one night, had the complimentary breakfast on the veranda, and looked out at the beautiful garden. It felt like a little piece of heaven.

The host was delightful and made me feel very welcome. I loved the theme throughout the house, it almost had me thinking I was in France. Then the three-year-old I'd brought along quickly brought me back to reality.
