Wallaby Backpackers Hostel Perth - note - Valid passport required to check in

The beds were comfortable and the location was great, but the place was very dirty and noisy. The train tracks are right next to the hostel, and you can hear trains until very late and again early in the morning. They really need to replace the very old windows.

The location is the only thing going for it. The building feels old and badly neglected, and there’s no social atmosphere. The so-called free breakfast was just two cereal packs and some milk. An intoxicated older man spent several nights yelling; it got bad enough for police to come, yet hours later he was still at the hostel. For somewhere this unsociable and run-down, the price feels far too high, like paying for a prison.

I stayed four nights in a fairly spacious single room with its own bathroom. The bed and room were clean, the air conditioning worked well, and the staff were friendly and helpful with information. Wallaby Backpackers Hostel is handy for Perth Station, Murray Street, and a bus stop. My rate was about USD 65 per night and I booked through Agoda. There’s no elevator, so ask for the first or second floor if stairs are a concern.

The staff made this stay for me. The receptionist greeted me with a smile, and another person noticed all my bags and offered to help. That kind of kindness really matters. I liked this backpackers.
