Point Lonsdale Guest House

The Lighthouse Suite is gorgeous, with its high ceilings, old furniture and calm coastal feel. Still, it didn’t seem empty when I stayed there last weekend. A little after 2am, I woke to what sounded like slow footsteps pacing across the timber floor for several minutes, then stopping beside the bed. I checked the time on my phone. Then the bathroom light switched on with a click. I was fully awake, and with the door ajar I thought I saw something move behind me in the mirror, near the window. I turned around, but there was nothing, and the curtains hadn’t moved. Even with the heater on, the air suddenly felt icy. I hardly slept after that. It’s a beautiful place, but that was a very unsettling night at the Point Lonsdale Guesthouse.

The hotel was cute and clean, and we had a lovely stay with my daughter and my two little grandchildren. The kitchen was really well set up, which made it nice to know we could cook a meal if we wanted. We also had fun in the pool and on the basketball and tennis courts, and picked out a couple of books from the library. Thanks for a lovely visit.

We made good use of the communal kitchen while travelling with the kids, and really appreciated having a coffee machine. The staff were friendly, the location was great, and we got to enjoy the pool on a day when it was too windy for the beach. Such a great place to stay. We’ll be back!

This was my second year at Point Lonsdale Guest House for Queenscliff Music Festival, and I’d happily stay again. The shared kitchen is set up really well for everyone, and it was nice seeing a few familiar faces from last year. This time a friend and I shared a clean, comfortable two-bed family room on the motel’s ground floor at the back. Last year I was downstairs at the front of the original two-storey guest house. The guest house has loads of history, and the current owners have done a great job looking after it. Getting to and from the festival on the local bus loop was easy: the stop is right outside, and buying tickets online ahead of time was simple. The lighthouse and town are an easy walk away. It’s on the main road but set back from the traffic.
