A morning coffee with wallabies grazing nearby was one of the best memories from our three nights at The Longhouse. The view was beautiful and peaceful, and there was very little noise from neighboring accommodations. We had breakfast on the decks, where each suite had a comfortable couch and easy-to-use awnings that worked well in the mild spring weather. We also saw local wildlife visit throughout the day. The suites are just off Broke Rd, which made getting around Hunter Valley easy, and traffic was light during our visit at the end of winter high season. That may have been down to the timing. We stayed in September with the NSW school holidays approaching, and found this quiet spot in Pokolbin a good base for our family trip. The host’s booking information and follow-up messages were clear and helpful. They suggested local shops and activities, and the generous check-in and check-out times meant we could take our time arriving and leaving. Inside, the suite felt welcoming, with a view out front, a fireplace, a complimentary local wine and a quick guidebook. The kitchen had what we needed if we wanted to cook, and the covered outdoor barbecue had a full gas tank. The bedrooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and there were a couple of towels. We asked ahead for an extra towel for each room and got them without any fuss. The bathrooms had a good range of quality amenities, so toothbrushes and toothpaste were the only toiletries we brought. We didn’t use the fireplace, but firewood was ready, and there was a shelf of children’s books nearby for families with little ones. We were impressed with our stay and would come back to Hunter Valley.

The bedrooms give everyone a quiet place to step away, while the dining table, terrace and pool become natural gathering spots when it’s time to be together. There’s space outside for kids to run around, and adults can sit with a drink or a book. It’s an easy place to slow down. Inside, the open living area works well for cooking, chatting or just relaxing. Large windows bring in plenty of daylight, and everyone has room to do their own thing without feeling disconnected. We could all enjoy a meal or a movie together, too. This villa feels spacious enough for the whole family, from young kids to grandparents, to relax together without getting under each other’s feet. It has a calm feel as soon as you arrive. Whether you’re there for a weekend or a longer stay, it’s the kind of home where family time and little shared moments come easily.

The view was what made me pause and appreciate where I was. The outdoor area is cared for just as well as the inside, too. Everything felt fresh and clean, and the bright rooms, big windows and easy-to-move-around layout made the house feel open without being too much. I felt comfortable and calm there. It’s clear the care goes beyond appearances and makes the place nice to spend time in.

I stayed at the Longhouse for my wedding at Bimbadgen Palmers Lane, and it was an ideal place for the bridal party to get ready. The villas are spacious, stylish and very well equipped, with quality furnishings and amenities. The beds are really comfortable too. Highly recommend.
