Latitude 16 Tropic Sands

The stay ended badly. The cleaners came before the 10am checkout time and told us to leave. They were very rude, and commented several times on the room's condition, even though we'd already reported problems such as the broken shower curtain to property management. When we asked to leave our bags on the balcony until our transfers arrived at noon, they were unhelpful and responded with eye rolls. There's nowhere to store luggage after checkout, and that was especially disappointing for what seemed like a reasonable request, as most places allow it. The place itself was really nice, but the cleaners' and management's manner felt highly unprofessional for the hospitality industry. These might seem like small things, but we won't be back.

Tropic Sands was good value for us. It's a mid range place with the features you need for a nice holiday, and the location is ideal: about a 3-minute walk to the surf club and 4 mile Beach, and an easy 5-minute walk to Macrossan St. It isn't Peppers level, but it suited us at a great price.

I've stayed here twice now and am already hoping to return. The location is top notch, and the value for money is hard to beat. Tom, the manager, and the team were a great help, especially Cherie and Gary. Tom went out of his way for me before and during the stay. My unit was bright and clean, with colourful decor and a lovely view over the tropical greenery around the pool. Little details helped too, like being able to choose pillows and finding useful kitchen things such as Gladwrap. The beach was an easy walk away.

Our family of five fit nicely here, and the location was great. The facilities are perhaps starting to feel a little tired.
