The tourist sites are right at the front beside the airport and a busy highway, and the noise is horrendous. There are only three rows set aside for tourists. The boom gate wasn't working, so there was no security, and you need to lock everything up carefully or things may be taken. For the price, this place is reprehensible. It feels like a cabin park, not a caravan park. We paid for a week, but when young international tourists were fleeced overnight, management refused to refund them so they could move somewhere safer. It's a terrible representation of our country. If you're self-contained, stay at Discovery Park or the turf club in Port Hedland.

I've done Dido work for 20 years, and this was the worst room I've come across. The bedding, pillows and towels were old and poor quality, and the bedding didn't leave me feeling confident about its cleanliness. There was a strange smell, mostly from the toilet, and the shower head wouldn't stay in a usable position. Asking $180 a night for this left me disappointed and is beyond belief. I know accommodation is tight in Port Hedland, but I feel Blackrock management are taking advantage of travellers with the product and price they're offering. I wouldn't recommend the Black Rock Tourist Park to fellow travellers.
That view of the South Headland Rainbow Lights Tank was picturesque, and the pool was absolutely magic. A shame they made us leave the pool area two minutes before the beautiful sunset. The park itself was quiet, though the caretakers could have been friendlier. Lock away valuables, and don't leave alcohol where it's accessible overnight.
The staff were lovely and probably doing their best, but the place is too far gone. We felt unsafe and kept checking the car. Outside noise kept us awake, and there was what we assumed was marijuana smell drifting in from the room next door. Inside, the smell was suffocating, a mix of stale cigarettes, damp and something old that I can't quite describe. The bedding smelled funky and didn't look or smell clean. One side of the bed had broken springs, leaving the mattress at a permanent angle. The shower and toilet were extremely unpleasant, with mould on the ceiling and poor ventilation; the bathroom cabinets were falling apart too. I couldn't sleep all night. For what we paid, I wish we'd stayed elsewhere. It wasn't worth it at all.
It's a handy base for the motorway and both Hedland towns, and the park has dining, a pool, good ablution pods, and a washing machine for $8 a go. The RV sites are wide but not very deep, around 8-10M, and most have trees for shelter. Motorway noise dies down in the evening, though there's a little train noise at night. It's an industrial town, and more shops are closed than open at the Port. South G has a decent-sized mall.
