Ana Mandara Luxury Bed & Breakfast

We had a very comfortable room and a lovely overnight stay at Ana Mandana. We chose to eat there, so we could enjoy a few drinks with dinner. Leo made a restaurant-quality barramundi and vegetables, then cheesecake with berries and cream. Breakfast was just as good, with juice, coffee, fresh fruit and yoghurt, and an omelet. He was easy to talk to and made us feel at home straight away. Next time, we’ll make time for the spa bath instead of just showering.

The curtains actually kept the room dark, and it was quiet and comfortable at night, so we slept really well. We also had the best breakfast of our time in Australia, especially the fruit salad and omelette. We were welcomed with a drink, enjoyed the lovely location and even spotted dolphins. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with incredible bathrooms and a hot tub. This four-star retreat was far better than many five-star hotels we stayed in while travelling around Australia. I didn’t expect it to be our favourite, but it was.

The owner cooked for us, and we really enjoyed both dinner and breakfast at the hotel. We spent two nights here and found everything clean, quiet, and comfortable, with beautiful surroundings. We’d stay again on our next visit to Port Macquarie.

The views over the Hastings River are terrific, and Leo is a wonderful host. His breakfast is always excellent, and dinner is a real treat. He used to be a chef, and it shows. A fabulous place to stay.
